Lakeview Cafe Kanchanaburi

Are you looking for a nice spot to sit down, eat and enjoy the view? You should visit the Lakeview cafe in Kanchanaburi. This cafe is located next to the Tha Thung Na River on the way to Erawan National Park in the Chong Sadao area of Kanchanaburi. With jaw-dropping views of the mountains and great food, this is the perfect stop to add to your day trip to the falls or a lovely place to visit for a bite to eat.

Every Friday, my partner and I go out somewhere and have a “date day”. Since the National Parks are closed right now due to Covid, there isn’t too much for us to do so I wanted to have a nice drive and find somewhere nice to eat. We decided to try somewhere new for lunch this week instead of our normal local restaurants. I was searching for a restaurant with a beautiful view, I googled viewpoint and this cafe was the first suggested place.

Lakeview Cafe and Restaurant, Kanchanaburi. Main seating area.

Unfortunately, it was raining when we woke up but I still wanted to have a nice day, so we decided to go anyway. This restaurant is about a half an hour drive from our home, it’s very easy to drive to from town since it is just off the main road that takes you to Erawan. We arrived at about 10:30 am and there was only one other family there dining. The seating area is very clean and has a relaxed feel to it. The workers greeted us at the door and sanitized our hands for us and we picked our own seats, we chose the seats looking out onto the river.

The seating area has garden views that lead down to the river. The river is surrounded by hilly mountains that are abundant with vegetation and greenness. It truly is a stunning view, even in the rain. While we were there, the fog was setting on the side of the mountain and it was a very relaxing sight to see. There is a cute wooden bridge that goes out onto the river, perfect for a scenic photo shoot opportunity. They have placed a wooden swing, benches and a tepee on the lawn for customers to take photographs on, we were not able to use them though because of the rain.

We eat quite a lot of food when we go out and by “we” I mean my partner. He could eat the whole restaurant if you put it in front of him, I believe that my partner has a bottomless pit for a stomach. It’s impressive! We didn’t eat breakfast so this was going to be a sort of “brunch” for us. We ordered Pad Pak (ผัดผักรวมมิตร, stir-fried mixed vegetables), Pad kra poa gai (ผัดกระเพราไก่, Thai chicken basil dish), Tom yum Goong (ต้มยำกุ้ง, shrimp and chicken spicy soup) and Yum Goong (shrimp salad).

Half of the dishes were very tasty, the other two were okay. I feel like the quality of food could of been slightly better for the price we paid but the ones we liked were very tasty and the view was defiantly worth the price. I ordered a caramel iced milk to go with my meal and that was delicious. I was very impressed by the amount of food we were served, it was very large portions! The Pad kra poa also came with an egg tofu soup as a side, the soup was a large quantity as well and it was very delicious. They have a very big menu that is written in Thai and English and the staff were very helpful and friendly.

Overall I really enjoyed visiting the Lakeview cafe, the food mostly was great, the atmosphere was very relaxed and the view was incredible. We love having mini photoshoots so we plan on going back on a sunny day to take advantage of the stunning mountain views. If you are on your way to Erawan and fancy a refreshing drink, a bite to eat or to see the river up close then I definitely recommend stopping by this cafe.

What is your favourite Thai food? Would you like to try the food we ate today, or if you have already what did you think?

Thank you for reading my post, I hope you have an awesome day!
